Nghinh Ông is a festival when people worship the God of the sea. This is the biggest traditional festival in the island. It happens on the 15th and the 16th of August (lunar calendar). The protocol of the Nghinh Ông festival is: the receiving and the sacrifice. These activities were well prepared several days before. Especially, after the end of the receiving, hundreds of fisherman boats which were well decorated will participate in the activities on the sea. Participating in the Nghinh Ông festival is a chance to discover the unique culture of Phu Quoc. Tourists can also taste a lot of fresh seafood.
